How To Play: Negotiator

How to Play

Negotiator

Negotiators are the savvy alliance-builders of Eridean and through swinging critical votes, can make or break a faction's final power. They must understand the positions they are advocating for inside and out, as well as how it will affect other players if passed.

Negotiators receive 2 motions and positions at the start of the game. Aware that only non-faction members can vote on their motions and they will be competing against a rival faction's negotiator, they have until the end of the game to convince players to vote for their position. If they succeed, Negotiators will personally receive 100 bonus points towards their individual score. Though be warned... motion outcomes can swing the worth of many assets and what's good for the negotiator might not always be in the best interest of their team.

We recommend the negotation role for those looking to develop their sales and presentation acumen. Success in the role requires the ability to build consensus and persuade non-aligned players on a series of motions. The negotiator is also a great ice-breaker role that requires an individual to interact with all players, even those they do not know.

How to become an effective Negotiator and win the Murder Game.

The Advocate

As an advocate, you passionately believe in the outcomes of your motions. Immerse yourself into the issues, find compelling arguments and appeal to the emotional nature of the other factions to fight your corner and to get them to vote in your favour at the finale. Advocates succeed by drawing crowds and delivering powerful simple messaging that resonates.

The Pragmatist

Pragmatists focus not on the merits of any particularly issue, as they know other players only care about one thing: what's in it for them. Pragmatists operate behind closed doors, striking deals and bartering with other players in exchange for their votes. These deals might involve the exchange of assets, wealth, information, or just favours. There are few rules when no one is watching.
